  1. Mathematics as a Modeling Tool

When we think of mathematics we normally do not think only of the study of numbers and their relationships, but rather specific applications of mathematics as it is used in physics, chemistry, music, engineering, and other natural and applied sciences. These sciences use mathematics to model behaviors and relationships of entities within their respective fields. In these applications mathematics connotes to us not only precision, but also the beauty of the comprehensive and intricate design of an entire system. Mathematics is usually beautiful not because the study of numbers is somehow beautiful, but because of its precision, its perfection, and its unique and inherent balance which reveals how wonderfully everything fits together into a single unity, just as all things fit into the Messiah (Eph. 4:4-6)

To compare the Bible with the plumb line of mathematics it is necessary as in all sciences to reduce Biblical components into a mathematical form. This is called mathematization. This is difficult to do in any area of science. In fact, it is only through such tedious and thorough research of the mathematization of specific problems that Phd's often get their diplomas. We will not attempt to do this with the Bible except in a general and conceptual way. I will show how you can use the principles of mathematics to study the language and details of the Bible to test and see if it holds together with the unique precision and perfection that we expect from the field of mathematics. This can only be tested through close study of the details of the Word. Through this process you will uncover the hidden treasures of God's word, your faith will grow stronger, and your knowledge of God will develop into awestruck wonder. It is through this process that one discovers that the Bible is not only infallible, but also, indeed, inerrant. There is no reason to leave these lessons to heartless intellectuals and theologians. God endowed you with His incredible word and with a personal teacher in the Holy Spirit so that YOU would be a wise and understanding people, full of faith, and the knowledge of God, being His servants who manifest His power in love to the world.

I John 2:27And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
